The Crystal Cove® is a small company based in South Wales, trading as The Crystal Cove®.  This policy is to notify customers how we collect and use data when you purchase through our website www.thecrystalcove.co.uk

What data do we collect and how is your data used?

We collect your name, telephone number, email address and postal address in order to process and send your order.  Any payment details are not held by us but collected and encrypted by our third-party payment processor Paypal®.  The Crystal Cove® never has access to your payment information.  

Your name, email and order details are also collected if you voluntarily complete a product review on our website in order to verify it is a genuine product review.

Website usage information is collected on our website using cookies.  

We also collect your name and email information if you voluntarily opt in to our newsletter.

If you voluntarily choose to create an account then we collect the same information that is used to process and ship your order. 

If you voluntarily create a customer account with us then you can use your email and password to sign in and update your name, email, address, telephone number and your contact preferences.  We do not have any access to or knowledge of your password for your account.  This account allows you to see your previous orders and track your orders.  Please note that no payment information is stored here and you will be redirected to our payment provider Paypal® on every occasion that you choose to purchase with us.  We never have access to this payment information which is collected and encrypted by Paypal® secure servers.  If you choose to save/remember your payment option with Paypal® then this is outside of The Crystal Cove® and so it would be necessary to read the privacy policy of Paypal®. 

Your name, email and postal address are used to process and send your order to you.  Your name and email are used in order to notify you that your order has been received and shipped and subsequently your postal address is used in order to send your order to you.  Your telephone number is only used if we need to contact you specifically about your order if we cannot reach you via email.  

Your personal information is collected to process and send your order and to keep you updated of progress.  We never share your information with any other persons or companies with the exception of the delivery company Royal Mail in order to send your order to you.  In this case, only name and address are shared.  The other information we collect to process your order, such as your email address and telephone number are not shared.  

Your email address would be used to contact you to notify you in the case of a data breach.

If you voluntarily opt in to our email marketing, your email information is used in order to send you our newsletter and your name is used in order to personalise this communication.  

We use information collected from the website to show you your recently viewed products and to show related products in order to improve your shopping experience.

Data protection

Our website is operated using a company called Actinic which is accessed on the office computer which requires staff to log in and is regularly updated with the latest antivirus and firewall software.  The computer is only accessible to staff and is kept in a locked, secure place.  Your order information is downloaded to the Actinic encrypted server.  We are required by law to keep a record of sales history for up to 7 years for accounting purposes.  We do our utmost to secure our data.  Our website is protected by encryption, which is indicated by the https:// prefix and padlock which appear in the browser address bar at the top of your screen.  In the event of a data breach we would notify customers via email as soon as we are aware of the issue.  


We will only send out marketing emails to those who have specifically opted in to receive these emails.  Any customers prior to 25th May 2018 who subscribed to receive email marketing only receive emails if they re-subscribe as this data has been deleted from our email marketing list.  

If you subscribe to our email marketing, you have the right to withdraw at any time you choose.  This can be done from your customer account and also by clicking the unsubscribe button contained within our marketing email.  Your data will then be deleted from our email marketing list.

A cookie is a small text file generated by a web page server and collects standard login information and visitor behaviour information.  

Our website uses cookies to monitor visitor behaviour and to create statistical reports on website usage.  Cookies enable the website to optimise your customer experience, such as showing your recently viewed products and products similar to those you may have selected.   

Our website uses google analytics which allows website usage and behaviour to be statistically monitored. 

You have the option of disallowing cookies on your computer but this may result in portions of our website not being displayed properly
